What are your names and your how old are your kids?

John, Ross, Hugo (3.5), Eloise & Oliver (2)

How did you decide on your children’s names?

We wanted strong, old names that reflected our heritage, while the middle names come from family names.

How did you decide what your children would call you?

It took some time to come to this conclusion. Ross would be dad for his English heritage and John would be papa for his French heritage.

How did you decide their last name?

We hyphenated our name shortly after getting married so that we and our children would all share the same family name with us.

What were you most afraid of about becoming a parent?

What most new parents are afraid of, being a good parent, ensuring all the children’s needs are met and eventually have them ready to go out into the world as compassionate, good people.

What is the most rewarding part of being a parent?

It’s so hard to pin point the most rewarding thing.  Is it when they look at you with their big eyes and you know how much they love you? Or is it when you see them do something loving and caring for their sibling or another kid? Is it when you see them achieve a milestone and something they have been working so hard to do? I don’t think I could pick just one thing.

What do you do for fun as an entire family?

Head down to the park, have Sunday morning cuddles, or watch a family favourite movie together.

What is a “must have” item your kids use?

Their blankies for bedtime.  Still a comfort for all three of them to this day.

Describe your parenting styles. Is one parent stricter?

Firm but fair.  We do our best to parent as consistently as possible.

Finish this sentence with one word… “To me, family is….”

… everything.

Family Is About Love

Since Milo has joined our family, we live each day with so much more love, laughter, patience and appreciation for life.

Our birth photo and story has been shared around the world and as educators, we feel it is important to help inform others the importance of skin to skin for newborns, understand surrogacy, and to show the world that family is about love!
