Ever since Milo’s birth photo first went viral on Facebook, we have been using social media to connect with people from all around the world. We use our Facebook page, Messenger and website, to answer questions people may have about our family. That being said, we have received many messages of support, yet we have also received many negative ones. As adults, we are able to shut them out and ignore, but children and young adults may not be able to do that so easily.
The internet can be a scary place for kids, which is why we monitor everything Milo does while being online. He loves to play games and video chat with his cousins, and now Facebook has created an app that is perfect and safe for kids to use. Messenger Kids is made for kids to connect with parent-approved family and friends, and what we really like is that we get to control who contacts Milo.
It’s super easy to create your child’s account as well. We created Milo’s profile with him, we choose who we want him to communicate with, and we approve who adds him as a friend. We have full peace of mind knowing that Milo is talking to someone we know and trust.
We have family and friends that Milo loves to video chat with both near and far. Messenger Kids is the perfect way for him to chat with his cousins that he doesn’t get to see all that often. He really enjoys that you can play games with whomever he is chatting with, and he especially gets a kick out of changing his face with the many filters in the app.
Milo is in Senior Kindergarten, and he is all about his friends and hanging out with them. The app is a great way for your child to stay in contact with their school friends. Within the app, you can create a group chat, so when Milo gets older, him and his classmates can create school groups to get homework done or work on projects together.
Not only for Milo, but even for us, we definitely limit screen time. When Milo is old enough to get his own device, we’ll want to be able to monitor the amount of time he’s online. Messenger Kids has this feature that allows you to put it in “sleep mode” and your child cannot access it during the times you set.
Messenger Kids is a fantastic way to introduce your child to social media all while doing it safely, but most importantly having fun! For more information visit messengerkids.com The app is now available for download from Apple App Store, Google Play, and Amazon Appstore.
