What are your names and your child’s name and age?
We are Mike & Glenn and our little Annabelle is four months old.
How did you decide on Annabelle’s name?
We just loved the name Annabelle and it really suits her. She has two middle names after our surrogate and her great grandmother.
How did you decide what Annabelle would call you?
We still haven’t come to a definitive answer on what we will be known as. We currently refer to each other as Dad and we feel like she’ll end up deciding what we are known as.
How did you decide her last name? Is it hyphenated? Only after one parent?
We tossed up for ages on the surname however in the end we decided it would be easier in the long run for her to just have one surname rather than hyphenating. My surname starts with C so she will always be near the top of the list at school.
What were you most afraid of about becoming a parent?
I guess my only fear in becoming a parent was how restrictive it would be. You suddenly go from having the freedom to do what you want when you want to being at your child’s beck and call 24/7
What is the most rewarding part of being a parent?
The most rewarding part of being a parent is the huge smile she gives me when I arrive home after work. No one has ever been that happy to see me!!
What do you do for fun as an entire family?
We are quite social people and through having a child have met other parents at a similar stage to us. It’s great to catch up and have a laugh. We’ve also flown interstate a couple of times with Annabelle. We love to travel and want to get Annabelle used to flying and staying in different locations. So far so good!
What was a “must have” item you use?
With Annabelle only four months old we are still learning about the must have items. We learnt very quickly that onesies with a zip at the top and bottom were key to a quick nappy change in the middle of the night.
Describe your parenting styles. Is one parent stricter?
We are still developing parenting styles. Glenn is awesome with the day to day as the stay at home parent.
