We never thought we would ever have a family, get married and would have to live a life that wasn’t true and authentic.
What does Pride mean to us? This little guy is our pride. Our marriage is our pride. Our family is our pride. Our love is our pride. Our country is our pride. We would not have these freedoms if it wasn’t for The Stonewall uprising in 1969. What was a night of rebellion sparked a movement of human rights.
Pride is a time for us to remember how far we’ve come, and how far we still have to go.
This was 50 years ago. 50 years of fighting for equal rights and freedoms that EVERYONE deserves. The LGBTQ+ community has come a long way, but we must remember how much work still remains for LGBTQ+ people around the world.
Pride is more than rainbows, parties, and parades. Pride is being able to be comfortable and safe enough to hold your husband’s, wife’s, or child’s hand out in public without discrimination and harassment. Simple things like this that some take for granted, others are being persecuted and killed for.
Pride is a time for us to remember how far we’ve come, and how far we still have to go. No matter how you identify, we all need to come together and stand up for each other. Love will always win.
To those countless people before us who fought, and continue to fight, THANK YOU.
From our family to yours, Happy Pride!
